G’day! I’m Peter, a farmer in South Australia, living life with my family of five. I’ve always had a lifelong fascination with weather, the beauty, the fury and at times the heartbreak it brings. It all started when I was just eight years old, watching my first thunderstorm and lightning show. I was hooked. My mum used to tell me off for going outside during storms, but nothing has changed, except now it’s my wife who reminds me to be careful!

 

Four years ago, as my son grew older and I found more time away from the farm, I decided to combine my love for weather with photography. Completely self taught and still a beginner, I make up for what I lack in skill with plenty of passion. I started out photographing birds, animals, farm scenes, and the occasional storm, slowly building the confidence to chase storms and capture the raw power of nature. I still enjoy photographing my wife’s horses, though that’s a work in progress!

 

My gear is a mix of new and second hand, but I’ve found that the best images come from practice and patience, not just the latest tech. People have shown interest in my prints, which has led to this website, where I might offer them for sale soon. If there’s a storm within 300 km, you’ll often find me chasing it, time permitting and with the right storm potential of course! I’m always looking to improve, no matter the genre. While I may not speak all the technical jargon, I have a good grasp of the basics and can explain things in simple “farmer speak.”

 

I hope to share more through blogs, whether it’s the day after a storm chase or live updates as they happen. Feel free to ask questions, offer critiques (though my family is my toughest critic!), or just follow along on my journey.

 

On our farm, we have crops, sheep, cattle, horses, and more dogs than you can count—six Jack Russells, two Kelpies, and a Jack Russell/Kelpie cross. Many of them join me on my photography adventures!
