Final Notes

• Dry start confirmed with no significant rainfall in sight just yet, except perhaps the far NW of

SA

• El Nino will rapidly form through late autumn and winter and peak in spring

• Broadly 2026 will be below average for rainfall however autumn and winter rainfall should

be closer to average for a change at this stage

• Rainfall will taper off in spring as we rapidly heat up with more wind likely once we do so

• Frosts through winter are likely to be more intense under stronger highs

• Better cold fronts in winter during El Nino often present some useful rainfall opportunities

especially if the Indian does not move to a Positive IOD
