Significant rain event for most districts, but especially southern and western agricultural parts of SA.

  • Event likely to be the most significant of the growing season for many leading to an above average to very much above average June

  • El Nino developing rapidly but actual on ground impacts will be felt July-November with moderate Positive IOD likely for spring

  • Return to thundery conditons and increased moisture later spring and early summer

  • General July-October rainfall below average with a 1997 flavour still looking plausible however significant early rains will boost soil moisture reserves to a great depth

  • Increased frost risk from late June onwards
